  14.     This basic game and the "Berm Busting" scenario, included in 
  15.     bdd100.zip are distributed as shareware.  
  16.     
  17.     Please make copies of bdd100.zip, and give to your friends or upload 
  18.     to other BBS.  Only the basic game and the "Berm Busting" scenario 
  19.     are shareware.  All additional scenarios and the registered version 
  20.     of the game are not shareware.

  22.     Please copy or upload only bdd100.zip and not the individual files.
  23.     This file which is included in bdd100.zip, must be retained in
  24.     any copies distributed.

  28.     INSTALLATION
  29.  
  30.     BATTLES is a Windows 3.x application and must be installed
  31.     on a hard disk drive.  You should copy the bdd100.zip file to
  32.     a new directory, preferably called \DESERT, before unzipping
  33.     the file.

  35.     BATTLES will expect to find it's initialization file, "bdd.ini",
  36.     in the default Windows directory, which is usually C:\WINDOWS.
  37.  
  38.     You should copy the "bdd.ini" file to the default windows 
  39.     directory.
  40.  
  41.     Refer to your Windows 3.x User's Guide for the procedure to
  42.     install the BATTLES application and icon in the program group
  43.     of your choice.
  44.  
  45.     The User Manual is on-line, via the HELP menu item of the main
  46.     menu, and you should read it before attempting to play the game.
  47.     Also each scenario has both INFORMATION and HISTORY, which should
  48.     be read before attempting to play a scenario.

  52.     SOUND SUPPORT

  54.     BATTLES will provide sound support for the standard PC speaker
  55.     or for Microsoft Multimedia Audio compatible sound boards under 
  56.     Windows 3.1 or greater.

  58.     If you have Windows 3.0, you should upgrade to Windows 3.1 to
  59.     receive the best sound effects.

  83.     "The Streets of Khafji" - Command the infantry and artillery
  84.     defense of this northern Saudi resort town as the Iraqis attempt
  85.     to storm and take control of the town.  Or control the Iraqi
  86.     attack and see if you can hold Khafji.

  88.     "The Az Zibayir Road" - The war is lost for the Iraqi Army in
  89.     Kuwait, and the escape is underway.  Led by elements of the
  90.     armored divisions occupying Kuwait, the Iraqi Army attempts to
  91.     return to Iraqi with great amounts of equipment and plunder.

  96.     The additional scenarios and the registered version of the game 
  97.     are not SHAREWARE, and may not be copied or distributed.

  104.     1993 (Veterans Day), the author will contribute $1.00 US to the

  106.     date, an update disk will be sent to all registered users which
  107.     will contain a NEW scenario:

  109.     "Kuwait Beach Party" - Marine amphibious landing on the beaches    
  110.     south of Kuwait City, opposed by Iraqi Infantry and Armor.

  112.     And, included with the update disk, will be a description of the
  113.     number of registrations received, the amount of the donation made
  114.     to the DAVA and the address to which the donation was sent.

  120.     If you are a shareware distributor, and would like to distribute
  121.     BATTLES on disks which you resale.  You MUST register a copy of
  122.     the BATTLES game in order to obtain permission to distribute the
  123.     BATTLES game on your disks.  The registration amount is indicated
  124.     above.  For your registration you will receive a special version of
  125.     the shareware BATTLES game (unregistered version) which includes an 
  126.     advertisement for your distribution service which will be displayed 
  127.     at the end of a game.

  132.     TECHNICAL SUPPORT

  134.     BATTLES is a huge Windows application, and accordingly so, places
  135.     a large demand on your system.  We recommend that you have a minimum
  136.     of 4MB of RAM, and nothing else running (just Windows 3.x) at the
  137.     time, also we recommend running BATTLES from a hard disk.
  138.     
  139.     If you experience any problems with the game or scenarios, please
  140.     write down the configuration of your system, the scenario you were
  141.     playing, what you where trying to do when the problem occurred,
  142.     and a detailed description of the problem as best as you can,
  143.     and send it to the Glacier Edge Technology address.  If possible
  144.     save the game (*.svg) and mail it on a disk or E-Mail it.
